Hey, I can hold up signs in photos too!
Kony 2012 is a neocolonialist project, just white people meddling with African affairs, pushing for military intervention where none is needed. Want to “save Africa”, start by telling other white people to not treat it like a pet project. Chartiy singles, schools run by pop stars, and sending free clothes won’t change the fact that most of the natural resources have been privatized and still bring profit only to the old colonial masters.
Getting rid of one, already increasingly irrelevant, warlord won’t “save Africa”. It might bring peace to Democratic Republic of Congo, Central African Republic and South Sudan, but the end of fighting is not the end of conflict, and still doesn’t address the root of the problem, the poverty and instability. Not to mention the rest of the continent that isn’t those three nations.
